In summer 2014, our immigrant members launched a Listening Campaign to determine our next local organizing campaign.
NSM members are held organizing conversations with immigrants throughout Philadelphia to determine what issues most affect their lives. Based on the feedback from the Listening Campaign, our members compiled and analyzed the results to determine what our campaign would be.
The results were strong: 59% of the the 200 people we spoke with chose obtaining driver’s licenses as the most important issue to improve their lives. As a member-led organization, NSM staff do not choose our campaigns. Rather, it is a democratic process led by our members who are at the forefront of all our work!
