Through this 10 month program, white members strengthen their capacity to combat white supremacy, which is always at odds with immigration justice efforts. The group grounds its learning in the lived experiences of NSM’s immigrant members and current events.
Accountability: This project is subjected to continual review by POC staff and Board. The project was also developed with mentorship from Beyond diversity 101. If you have any questions about the program please contact, lauren@sanctuaryphiladelphia.org

White People Practicing Racial Justice
White People Practicing Racial Justice (WPPRJ) emerged in 2019 from People of Color in NSM expressing a need for white members to process their stake in collective liberation in spaces apart from the POC majority organizing meetings and activities. This is not an anti-racism 101 course, rather this is an embodiment-based, non-linear practice space for NSM's interfaith white members to:
- Grow in their understanding of white people’s particular stake in fighting racism
- Practice engaging their discomfort, reflect, lament, and take anti-racist action more mindfully
- Become more curious about and accountable for behaviors of white supremacy
- Build more joyous, trustful relationships with white people as we learn with and from each other
- Take concrete actions to further anti-racism work within congregations and NSM's campaigns
